CBS and NBC Call Florida for Obama

At 2:34pm Eastern Time today, CBS and NBC projected the winner of Florida’s 25 electoral votes for Senator Barack Obama. Spokespersons noted that due to “high pre-voter turnout” they had collected enough exit polling information to declare Obama the winner.
When asked if this was an attempt to get the same effect as the blown call in the 2000 election, namely keeping people in Republican strongholds like the panhandle from going to the polls, the spokespersons categorically denied that it is a partisan maneuver and further proclaimed that they had never heard of this effect and doubt its existence. When pressed on the issue, the CBS spokesperson said, “CBS was correct all along. Gore did win Florida in 2000. Why we ever had to apologize is beyond me.” He continued, “Obama has already won every state in the union. Votes don’t matter, just results, and when we steer people in the right direction, the results of this election will bear that out.”
Speaking under the condition of anonymity, one reported frustratedly remarked, “journalistic integrity does not mean anything in this business if you don’t back the left. If you don’t do so, then you will be shunned and run out by the establishment. Then you can only make a living as a blogger or worse, being a pundit on talk radio or Fox News.”
